WELCOME TO
YELLOW RHINO

Readjustment wellbeing, specialising in hip replacement recovery, infused with ancient celtic movement, rehabilitative yoga and solution-based coaching to work through life's curveballs. Speaker and small group facilitator.

I know how it feels to:
* worry about the surgery
* feel embarrassed to use a walking aid
* wonder how to navigate future fitness
* consider how vanlife will work
* plan for a new way of life
Hip replacement recovery.
Preparing for one or have had one? You will get treated by a surgeon and possibly a physiotherapist. However, many people don't see their physio after the first day post op! (I can signpost you to one should you need one).
As for the mental recovery, who is there for us? I am! Not only do I have many years of coaching experience, but I have received a total hip replacement myself.
I work with people recovering from all kinds of life changes, but hip replacements are something I'm helping more people with
than ever.
Whether you are preparing for a change in your physical self or recovering, I can help - even if you haven't exercised or moved your body in a long time.
Wyda
Ancient druids practised a form of movement and spirituality called Wyda (wee-daa), akin to the more formal structures of Yoga and Qi Gong. With awareness to cultural appreciation, and having formally trained as a yoga teacher, it is vital to remember the practise of Wyda is an inpsiration to use as guidance and to compliment other movement and meditation practices. Often called "Celtic Yoga" it draws on the wisdom of the land. Outdoors in forests or woodlands is where it's mostly practised.

The teaching of Wyda basically distinguishes between 3 energy fields:
• – The vital field, located in the navel area, controlling the body’s organs and hormonal system.
• – The emotional field in the chest area regulating moods and feelings.
– The mental field in the head area, between the eyes, regulating brain performance and senses.

Welsh Bardism – the world of myth, story, poetry and songmythological connection to nature-based magic and wisdom guides us with use of chanting and connected languages.
You might wish to explore Wyda in some of my sessions.

Live in a van?
That's fine. Lots of my clients are vanlifers.
Vanlife is seen as a great solution to rising rental costs and the treadmill of the 9-5. However, it can also set us a difficult challenge - keeping on top of bills and health, finding communities that understand, having someone to help drive forward with our ambitions, even knowing how to handle the stress of living transiently.
The druid practice of "Wyda" encourages
embraces the outdoors in it's practice -
perfect for vanlife.
As many vanlifers are ageing,
looking after mobility can also
be an issue as we are
dependent on good physical
and mental health to cope with
the demands of nomadic living.
At a festival? No problem.
Join me for a CABIN CHAT.
Coaching can even be carried
out on the move - if you're at a campsite or festival. I may not live in my van, but I understand the transient nature of having connections all over and sometimes being far away from those that matter.
I understand the struggles of coping with a lifestyle dependent on good physical and mental health. I also give talks and facilitate small group "campfire chats" as an alternative to a "circle chat".
VISION
Developing curious, resilient mindsets and strong bodies in an evolving world, inpsired by ancient cultural wisdom.
CORE VALUES
Gratitude: Such an important element, gratitude helps us appreciate the here and now, to celebrate the small achievements. By pausing to know we are part of an organic process that everyone globally is also part of, we can bring awareness to our own achievements.
Innovation: At YELLOW RHINO things happen a little differently. By utilising all your senses to tackle the smaller problems little by little in a constant circle of check, refine, improve, celebrate. At the heart is exploring what we enjoy, what we want to learn and what we already know, before putting it into practise. Using the elements of Wyda, we work on:
-
The Vital Field (Navel Area): Controls the body’s organs and hormonal system.
-
The Emotional Field (Chest Area): Regulates moods and feelings.
-
The Mental Field (Head Area - between the eyes): Regulates senses and brain performance.
Energy: You will feed off the energy shared; the interactive sessions will keep you fuelled up!
Impact: As with any forward-thinking system, the whole purpose is to create an impact. The aim is for a measurable impact on your well being so we know what we’re doing is needed, and works.
Growth: YELLOWRHINO will grow with you and share your growth as you 'discover and recover.' Individual and group sessions create a positive and safe space where you can share your story, whilst beginning to write the next chapter. You won't be judged on setbacks or pitfalls as you continue to grow as a whole human being.
MISSION STATEMENT
An inclusive wellbeing and rehabilitation platform to support people to reach their limitless potential through physical and mental stability.
WHERE DID THE NAME COME FROM?
The inspiration behind the name comes from a local statue to my home for some years in Plymouth. The Plymstock Rhino is found near a roundabout in Plymstock and represents some fossilised remains of animals found nearby.
As an animal itself the rhino is named after its famous horn. It’s a real life unicorn! Or as we like to think of it - a UNIQUE HORN. Think of using this own to charge at life - to tackle a difficult situation head on and not hide away from it. Like some of us, rhinos may look tough, but their skin is actually quite sensitive. You can find them in various places around the world, with grounded strength, varying in type and personality.
Yellow. A bright, happy, primary colour, reflective of a safe nervous system, yellow can signify different emotions and meanings, but the ones we love to associate with are freshness, happiness, positivity, clarity, energy, optimism, enlightenment, remembrance, intellect, honour, loyalty, and joy.
